- Glenglassaugh Octaves Peated
Glenglassaugh Octaves Peated Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Matured in 45 litres casks, affording the whisky more contact with the wood, and hence a very intense maturation. Limited release of 1,418 bottles.
Nose: A dollop of rich clotted cream spread over apple crumble, infused with delicious, sweet waves of heather burning on the hillside.
Palate: Apricot jam and Greengage plums with a contrasting warmth of freshly cracked black pepper. A subtle and delicate smouldering peat ember smokiness flows through the palate.
Finish: The delicate, sweet nature of Highland peat marries harmoniously with the distinctive spirit and cask interaction found in Octave maturation.
Glenglassaugh Single Malt Whisky
Glenglassaugh Distillery is a Highland malt whisky distillery situated at Sandend Bay near Portsoy on the Banffshire coast with views north over the Moray Firth and the North Sea and is one of just a very few truly coastal Highland malt whisky distilleries. Glenglassaugh Distillery was established by James Moir and opened in 1875. This distillery was substantially re-built in 1959 and re-opened in 1960 only to close in 1986. However, Glenglassaugh was back in production in December 2008 and is now owned by Brown Forman of America.
