One of three new 2010 releases for the Private Collection by Gordon & MacPhail.
Distilled on 7 November 1969 and matured in cask #7354, a First Fill Sherry Hogshead, this single malt was bottled at 40.4% in June 2010. Only 50 bottles released.
Glen Elgin 1969 is a powerful whisky, deep brown in colour. It is sweet, with a velvet-like texture and yields a resinous, sherried character with spices, tobacco leaf, boiled sweets and a delicate smokiness.
Glen Elgin Distillery
Glen Elgin Single Malt Whisky
Glen Elgin Distillery was designed by Charles C. Doig and established beside the Morayshire Railway in Fogwatt in 1898 by William Simpson and James Carle. This is a Speyside malt whisky distillery equipped with six small stills and six round wooden worm tubs. It is one of the few distilleries in Scotland which continues to cool its spirits in traditional worm tubs. Glen Elgin contributes a large proportion of its whisky to White Horse blends consequently the only distillery release single malt whisky is the Glen Elgin 12 Year Old. Independent bottlings are available from the Coopers Choice, Cadenhead and Signatory Vintage ranges.
