A single malt whisky distilled in the late 1980s. Single cask #15453 and bottled at cask strength. We are delighted to bring to you Tormore 30 Year Old 1988 56.2% First Editions Exclusive.

Vintage From Tormore

Tormore Distillery is not one of the big single malt powerhouses. Instead it is a relatively lesser well-known and rather young distillery. Established in 1958 in Speyside, it was created to be a blend supplier. Sadly this means the distillery is somewhat overlooked. And if you have ever seen it, you would know this is a great shame. Designed by Sir Albert Richardson, President of the Royal Academy and is set in stunning landscaped gardens. Resplendent with decorative pagoda roofs, a clock tower and clock which still chimes Scottish tunes, a rectangular curling pond, topiary and houses for the staff. Simply stunning!

When our new exclusive release of Tormore 30 year old was distilled in 1988, the distillery had only been operating for 30 years. As a blending house, official single malts are also rather rare. The independent scene is definitely where it is at. This First Editions release form our chums at Hunter Laing is a great opportunity to explore this distillery in a dram.

Tormore – Tormoreish?

Distilled in 1988 and bottled in December 2018 from a single refill hogshead #15453. Only 144 bottles at cask strength 45.8% and selected exclusively for TheWhiskyBarrel.com.

Official notes describe a nose of caramel, citrus fruits and vanilla. The palate is light and sweet with toffee ice cream, lemons and apple pie. The finish is long, with a subtle kick of spice.

So yes, moreish indeed and we are chuffed to end the year with this release.
